Sustainability is more than just a slogan

In today’s world, where global environmental awareness is rising and climate change issues are becoming increasingly severe, “sustainable management” has become an essential topic for all industries. This is especially true for the sheet metal processing industry. This industry has traditionally faced significant challenges such as high energy consumption, waste generation, and carbon emissions during manufacturing and processing. How to achieve sustainable development not only affects a company’s competitiveness but also relates to social responsibility and the future of the next generation.

Inter-Tech places great importance on sustainability and has made significant investments in this area. Besides replacing some outdated or high-energy-consuming equipment, we have introduced advanced German energy-efficient laser cutting and bending machines. We are also committed to controlling and reusing leftover materials, a promise that has remained unchanged since our founding. For example, we store irregularly shaped scraps effectively and coordinate with recycling partners to regenerate resources. For reusable scraps (usually more regular shapes), we carefully preserve them for future use. Although this may seem like a small part of the process, whether the leftover materials produced daily in sheet metal processing can be properly utilized is closely linked to environmental resource conservation.

Sustainable management encompasses much more: valuing employees and customers.

Beyond environmental concerns, creating a safe and healthy work environment, providing comprehensive occupational safety management and health promotion measures, and emphasizing employees’ professional growth and welfare protection are all critical elements. Only by continuously strengthening employees’ sense of belonging and career development, enhancing job satisfaction and team cohesion, can a company and its employees form a mutually beneficial partnership to achieve sustainable development goals together.

Inter-Tech has highly valued workplace environment and safety since its founding. We have observed that in the processing industry, many prioritize efficiency and expect employees to work without breaks, which over time seriously harms their concentration and physical and mental health. Therefore, Inter-Tech promotes a work model of taking a 10-minute break every 50 minutes, allowing employees sufficient rest and adjustment time before returning to focus on production. This practice not only improves employees’ physical and mental well-being but also significantly enhances product quality for our customers.
Additionally, in the storage of tools and equipment selection, Inter-Tech always prioritizes employee safety, such as purchasing automatic tool-changing systems to reduce injury from manual handling.

Inter-Tech has successfully passed the ISO 14064-1:2018 certification for greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory.

14064-1:2018 is an international standard that specifies principles and requirements for organizations to quantify, monitor, manage, and report greenhouse gas emissions. This standard applies to all organizations and provides guidance to systematize and standardize carbon inventory processes, ensuring data accuracy and transparency, which helps companies manage their GHG emissions and promote carbon reduction actions.

In 2024, recognizing the importance of GHG inventory and carbon emission issues, Inter-Tech replaced all laser cutting equipment with advanced fiber laser cutting machines and partnered with one of the Big Four accounting firms, KPMG, to begin a one-year counseling program for GHG inventory and carbon emission certification. Inter-Tech successfully obtained the ISO 14064-1:2018 certification in 2025, establishing a solid basis and management system for the company’s carbon reduction efforts, serving as a reference for Taiwan’s sheet metal processing industry in sustainable management.

Inter-Tech also obtained ISO 14067:2018 certification for product carbon footprint.

ISO 14067:2018 is an international standard focusing on the quantification and communication of the carbon footprint of products and services, assessing greenhouse gas emissions across the entire product lifecycle—from raw material procurement, manufacturing, production, transportation, and use to final disposal. This standard, published in 2018, replaced the 2013 technical specification ISO/TS 14067 and serves as a globally recognized guideline for calculating and reporting product carbon footprints.

While ISO 14064-1:2018 primarily builds a comprehensive GHG inventory system at the organizational level, Inter-Tech understands that the sheet metal processing industry is a source for many other industries. When stricter product carbon emission audits are implemented in regions like the European Union, Taiwanese manufacturers will face the challenge of seeking more low-carbon processing options. Therefore, when Inter-Tech signed with KPMG, it decisively pursued dual certification for both ISO 14064-1:2018 and ISO 14067:2018, a pioneering move that impressed the consulting advisors.

Fortunately, Inter-Tech obtained both ISO 14064-1:2018 and ISO 14067:2018 certifications in July 2025.

We believe that in the near future, ISO 14067:2018 will become a requirement for exporters regarding their processing factories. Inter-Tech is willing to invest early to ensure the competitiveness of itself, its partners, and customers.

Obtaining ISO 14064-1:2018 and ISO 14067:2018 marks the first step for Inter-Tech.

In today’s turbulent environment, product quality and fast delivery are increasingly critical, and these are key focal points of our efforts. However, how to maintain competitiveness under the concept of sustainable operation is a challenge every company must consider. Inter-Tech actively pursues energy, logistics, medical, and semiconductor industries, building a safe, clean, and employee-friendly production environment.

Only by working well with employees, partners, and customers can better competitiveness be achieved.
